Peter Norfolk is hoping for more success in 2004 |
World quad tennis number one Peter Norfolk is trying not to let the excitement of the Athens Paralympics take over his thoughts. The Briton completed a Grand Slam with victory in the Australian Open in February and is hoping for more success in 2004.
"I am trying to keep my routine the same as before," Norfolk admitted.
"There are a lot of big tournaments over the course of the year and the Paralympics is just another one."
2003 was a year to remember for Norfolk with wins in the French Open, British Open and US Open which propelled him to the top of the world rankings.
But he admits that there is a special buzz about Paralympic year.
"This year promises to be so much more exciting and everyone is a lot more interested in what is going on in disability sport.

"The Paralympics is a very special tournament and you can't get away from that," he admitted.
"But if we get carried away with the hype and the intensity that goes with it, our focus changes.
"We have got good coaches and a great back-up team and the whole sport is on an upsurge at the moment.
"We are in the top five in the world and the Paralympics are coming around at the right time," he added.
Norfolk's next Super Series event, the Japan Open comes in early May and he is hoping to remain at the top of the rankings.
"I intend to try to win every Super Series event this year and now that I have got to the top of the world rankings I would like to stay there," he said.
"I'm hoping that things like a bit of extra training and perhaps some more planning in all areas like nutrition will help me to do that."
