Lewis beat Gary Anderson to clinch his first PDC world title in January |
World champion Adrian Lewis suffered a second consecutive Premier League defeat in Belfast on Thursday night. The 26-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent, who had lost to James Wade in his previous match, was beaten 8-6 by a resurgent Raymond van Barneveld. Phil Taylor continued his return to form with a strong performance against Terry Jenkins, sealing a comfortable 8-2 victory at the Odyssey Arena. Scotland's Gary Anderson leads the table with three wins out of three. World Championship runner-up Anderson thrashed Mark Webster 8-1, while Simon Whitlock beat Wade 8-5 to claim his first victory of the tournament. The next round of Premier League matches, which takes place in Exeter on 3 March, sees Taylor and van Barneveld renew their long rivalry, while Anderson will look to continue his unbeaten start to the competition against World Grand Prix champion Wade.
