Herefordshire's Terry Jenkins insists that he is enjoying his darts again after reaching the last 16 of the PDC World Championship.

Jenkins beat Surrey-born American-based Steve Brown 4-1 to set up a tie against Hertfordshire's Mark Walsh.

"I feel good again now, as if I want to play," said Jenkins. "But earlier in the year I did not want to be up there.

"I got fed up with darts. I did not practise all year but I've practised for two or three weeks for this one."

The Ledbury man added: "I think I had been in the Premier League too many times.

"If I get a good start I tend to go to sleep and throw a silly leg.

I always said if it becomes a job I would pack it up, but I can't as the money is so good

"It was getting me down, and I needed a bit of time to myself.

"I always said if it becomes a job I would pack it up, but I can't as the money is so good."

But, after his 3-2 first round win over Joe Cullen, he was an even more comfortable winner against Brown.

"Steve did not seem to hit much in the first two sets," Jenkins told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "And I found it difficult to hit 140s.

"It can be hard to get your own darts going."

If Jenkins beats Walsh on Thursday (scheduled 1545 GMT), he will be into the quarter-finals, to match his best performance at a World Championship - his run to the last eight on 2007.
