Wade looks to be in good form at Alexandra Palace |
James Wade produced a dominant display to move into the second round of the PDC World Championship with a 3-0 win over Spaniard Antonio Alcinas. Hampshire's Wade, seeded second, restricted Alcinas to just two legs on his way to an impressive win. "I believe I will win the world title, it's whether it's this one," he said. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Brendan Dolan took advantage of an off-colour performance by Kevin 'The Artist' Painter to claim a 3-0 victory. Painter, seeded 18, won just two legs with Dolan in control throughout at Alexandra Palace. In other matches, Alan Tabern twice came from behind to defeat Welshman Richie Burnett 3-2. Tabern, seeded 23, was 2-1 down before winning six of the last seven legs to reach the second round. Jyhan Artut held off a strong fight-back from Hong Kong's Scott Mackenzie to progress from the preliminaries with a 4-3 victory. | 606: DEBATE |
The German led 3-1 at one point but his opponent hit back to level at 3-3. But Artut went on to hit a 76 finish to set up a first round clash with Denis Ovens. But Ovens proved too hot for Artut, claiming a 3-1 win to move into the second round.
