Swindon's Dennis Smith says he is confident of success next year despite an early exit at the Professional Darts Corporation's World Darts Championship.

The 41-year-old lost 3-0 in the first round to Andy Hamilton at Alexandra Palace but said he remains upbeat.

"To be honest I'm really happy with my darts," Smith told BBC Wiltshire.

"The second half of the year I've had a great time - I can't really knock the way I have played as it as got me to Ally Pally."

Smith continued: "It's a kick in the teeth [to go out in the first round] but I'll be bouncing back.

"I'll have a couple of days off when I get home and then I'll be straight back on the board looking forward to the new year."
