England skipper Adams is the reigning Masters champion

Hull's City Hall is to host the Winmau World Masters, taking over from the Spa at Bridlington as the event's home.

This year's BBC-televised tournament, from 29 to 31 October, will see players from 72 nations competing for a total prize fund of £66,500.

Reigning Lakeside world darts champion Martin Adams will be looking to defend his Winmau title for the second time.

Masters weekend will be preceded on 28 October by the international play-offs for places in the 2011 Lakeside field.

The World Championships, also televised by the BBC, take place in Frimley Green, Surrey, from 1 to 9 January.

The Masters was first played in 1974, making it the oldest established major darts tournament in the world.
