Martin Adams is expecting Sunday's BDO World Championship final with Dave Chisnall to be a tight contest.

The 53-year-old from Peterborough survived a comeback from Martin Phillips to win their semi-final 6-4 at the Lakeside on Saturday.

"I always expect close games with great players and Dave is a great player," Adams told BBC Sport.

"People love to see a great game of darts and hopefully that's what we will give them."

The number three seed led Phillips 4-0 and 5-1 but saw his advantage slide away before closing out the match in the 10th set.

"The first four sets are as well as I've played all week. My finishing was pretty clean so I was happy with that," added Adams.

"I don't know why, but then I lost my way. I was trying a little bit too hard, which is a silly thing to do.

"But I held on. You've got to hold on otherwise you're dead and buried."

Adams is making a record-breaking 17th appearance at the Lakeside and is hopeful that his experience could give him in the edge in Sunday's showpiece.

I fear no darts player. I've got three darts, just like he has. We'll just get up there and have a game of darts

"You can't discount the experience that I have," said Adams.

"I'll be playing my game as I normally do and it's up to Dave to do what he does."

Adams lifted his only world championship title in 2007 and said that winning his second crown would trump that achievement.

"It would mean everything to win it again," said Adams.

"So many darts players just want to have their name on the trophy once, but when you've got it on there once you want to do it twice, thrice and more.

"That's why you keep trying and coming back. You want to win it again, again and again."

Chisnall has booked his place in the final by beating number one seed Tony O'Shea, fourth seed Darryl Fitton and defending champion Ted Hankey, but Adams said he has no reason to fear the 29-year-old.

"I fear no darts player," said Adams. "I've got three darts, just like he has. We'll just get up there and have a game of darts."
