Taylor was shocked by Vincent van der Voort in the group stage
Phil Taylor has predicted "a cracker" against Stockport's Tony O'Shea after booking his place in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Taylor, the PDC number one, will face O'Shea, who is top of the BDO rankings, in Wolverhampton on Saturday.
"Tony's played really well," Taylor told BBC Radio Stoke. "He's come here under a lot of pressure and he's come here to enjoy himself.
"The atmosphere will be great on Saturday. It's going to be a cracker."
Taylor defeated Colin Lloyd 10-4 in round two at the Civic Hall on Thursday, while O'Shea beat Mark Webster in the deciding leg of his last 16 clash.
The 49-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent, was surprisingly beaten by Dutchman Vincent van der Voort in his final group match and admitted he needed a good win against Lloyd to boost his confidence.
"Obviously I'm glad to have won, but I needed something to put me right for the next game," said Taylor.
"It's a longer format, you can play your normal game and that's what I did in the last seven legs.
"Andy [Hamilton] and Adrian [Lewis] have both gone out now, so I've got to fly the flag for Stoke."
Kevin Painter and Raymond van Barneveld also made it through to the last eight with victories over Kirk Shepherd and Mervyn King respectively.
