Taylor reveals motivation issue

Phil Taylor
Taylor has lost to Terry Jenkins and James Wade so far this season.

World number two Phil Taylor has revealed he is finding it harder to stay focused and is beginning to look forward to the day he retires.

Taylor, who is nicknamed 'The Power', has lost two of his last three matches and told BBC Radio Stoke: "When I was younger I was able to practice longer.

"As I get older, the more I look forward to retiring.

"When, like me, you have won everything you can win, you lose that little bit of momentum."

However, Taylor insisted he wants to "enjoy my darts" for the next four or five years and is relishing the challenge of increased competition in the Premier League.

"I'm not giving games away. You have to play well to beat me" he said. "The players I'm up against make it more of a challenge, that coupled with the fact I'm enjoying it more than ever keeps me going."

Taylor takes on Peter Manley in this week's round of Premier League fixtures, but he already has one eye on taking on Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld.

"He's had a bit of luck," said Taylor. "But I'll sort him out when we meet in a few weeks time."
