Phil 'The Power' Taylor begins the defence of his Premier League Darts title on Thursday insisting he is working harder than ever at his game.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm practicing well and I'm more dedicated than I've ever been in my career.

"I'm entering more competitions than ever. I just want to compete and win tournaments. I've got the hunger back in my belly."

Taylor begins his 2008 campaign against James Wade in Glasgow.

He continued: "I believe I can win every time I play. I'm using new darts and I feel I'm throwing better in practice than at any other time in my career."

Taylor's new darts have been developed with the help of a ballistics expert to minimize deviation during flight.

"I fell in love with them the first time I picked them up. They feel really good so I've ditched my old darts and I'll be using the new ones from on."

Taylor will be joined in the Premier League by fellow Potter Adrian 'Jackpot' Lewis, who begins his second campaign against Terry Jenkins.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I had a disappointing finish to the World Championships but my form has improved and I'm feeling confident."
