The 2008 Lakeside World Darts champion will win �85,000, with a record prize fund for the event totalling �310,000. The cheque for winning the British Darts Organisation version of the world title has risen from �50,000 in 2004.
A peak audience of around 5m saw the climax of last year's men's final as Martin Adams held off a remarkable comeback by Phill Nixon to win 7-6.
The 2008 Championships run from January 5-13, with extensive coverage on BBC TV, BBCi and the BBC Sport website.
In addition, BBC Worldwide will offer coverage from Frimley Green in Surrey to more than 70 countries around the globe.
