Third seed Peter Manley crashed out of the Ladbrokes World Championship with a 4-2 third-round defeat to unknown Dutch qualifier Josephus Schenk.

After falling 2-0 behind, Manley - a two-time runner-up at Purfleet - levelled at 2-2 before Schenk turned on the style to secure a famous win.

"I played my best, so I'm satisfied," said 24-year-old Schenk.

"I came here thinking I might only play one match but now I have won three, which is super."

Defending champion Phil Taylor will play Dennis Priestley after a 4-0 victory over Alex Roy.

Taylor, who lost just one leg and averaged 102.87, said: "I've practised really hard and you've got to play well up there.

"I've come here to win the tournament. My practice has been perfect and I am really up for this."

Priestley set up the match against Taylor with a 4-1 win against Lionel Sams.

Eleventh seed Dennis Smith's tournament came to an end as he went down 4-2 to 1988 world champion Bob Anderson.

Peter Evison claimed only one leg as he lost 4-0 in his grudge match against Andy Jenkins.

Evison was angry at Jenkins' comment that the match was effectively a bye because Evison's form was so poor.

But he was well beaten in the third-round match, going eight consecutive legs without a shot at a double.

"Peter did most of the talking before the match and I ended the talking on stage," said Jenkins.

"I sent him packing and that's good enough."

Chris Mason just got the better of Dave Askew even though the 35-year-old from Bristol, who will next face world number one Colin Lloyd, was never ahead until he won the last two legs to emerge a 4-3 winner.

Askew took the first two sets before Mason fought back to draw level and the next two were also shared.

The decider reached 1-1 before Mason broke the throw with a 100 check-out and then went on to wrap up the win.
