Mark Cavendish is still searching for his first win of 2011 after finishing second to Theo Bos in the opening stage of the Tour of Oman on Tuesday.

Bos out-sprinted the Isle of Man rider after a windswept bunch sprint in Al Seeb, with German Roger Kluge third.

The result is Cavendish's best of the season, having suffered crashes at both the Tour Down Under and last week's Tour of Qatar.

The 10-second time bonus on the line gives Bos the overall lead.

Wednesday's second stage will see the riders cycle 139km to Al Wutayya.
