Daniell won the 1km time trial at the World Cup in Manchester in October
Middlesbrough sprinter David Daniell says his main focus will be on March's Track World Championships, ahead of the World Cup series event in Denmark.
Daniell, 19, flew out to Copenhagen on Tuesday without any pressure to win, and remains confident of a promising display before next month's event.
"I had a meeting with the coach and he said use Denmark as a stepping stone," he told BBC Tees.
"But I've been on the track and put in good times so good things might come."
Preparations for the trip to Denmark were not helped by a pre-Christmas illness, which had an impact on the Manchester-based cyclist's training programme.
But Daniell is adamant that he has since been able to put in the hours to prepare himself for Copenhagen.
"I was going well before Christmas but I fell ill and was off the bike for three weeks with a bad flu virus," he said.
"The virus is completely out now and I've been training hard for the last week but to be off the bike for three weeks has been a major setback.
"I've been putting in good times now on the track and I'm not far off my original form," Daniell added.
The fifth and final edition of the Track World Cup series takes place in Copenhagen from 13 to 15 February.
The Track World Championships will be held in Pruszkow, Poland, from 25 to 29 March.
