Shropshire's downhill mountain biking star Rachel Atherton is preparing to take on the world's best this summer.

Last year's world downhill silver medallist is taking part in the 2008 World Cup at Fort William in June.

But she is unconcerned that her discipline will not be included in this summer's Olympic games, unlike cross-country biking.

"Downhilling is an extreme sport, so if it became an Olympic sport it could change," she said.

"Maybe there'd be more emphasis on the technical side, rather than the extreme side."
