Morabito seals home tour victory
Steve Morabito celebrates his win
It was Morabito's first stage win in the Tour de Suisse
Steve Morabito won the fifth stage of the Tour of Switzerland from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Leukerbad.

The Swiss Phonak rider broke away with six others 40km from the start of the 229.5km stage to set up a first home win in this year's Tour.

He finished ahead of Belgian Jurgen Van Goolen, with Tuesday's winner, Spaniard Angel Vicioso, taking third place.

Vicioso now leads the event going into Thursday's 212km leg from Fiesch to La Punt which includes three major climbs.

Van Goolen and Morabito moved into the lead as the race hit a steep climb 1km from the line.

Van Goolen tried to attack with half a kilometre to go, but Morabito stayed on his rear wheel and then raced past him in the closing metres.

Morabito, 23, said: "It's incredible to have won so close to my home.

"I was just happy to get a place in the Phonak team for the Tour of Switzerland. Winning this stage is amazing.

"I felt good all day and was very motivated because we were racing on the final climb I often cover in training

"I pretended to begin the sprint too far out and Van Goolen went in front at 300m. I was then able to overtake him."
