Organisers of the 2005 Welsh Senior Road Race Championship have opted to shorten the proposed course due to the absence of several Wales team members. The Wales team will be competing in Ireland's FBD Insurance Ras when the Welsh Championship is held on 22 May.
The race will be run over the same 130km Carmarthenshire course as last year, won by junior Geraint Thomas.
The original course was due to take in the Black Mountains and be more than 160km in distance.
That route was last used by the Kelloggs tour in the early 1990s and with many of the Welsh team away at the Ras, the course has been changed and shortened to the minimum distance based on the Drefach HQ.
The Junior and Veteran's Championships will be run over the same route but with less laps of the Llandeilo circuit.
Julian Winn will lead a strong Wales team in the Ras in Ireland, which takes place from 22 to 29 May.
In trying to repeat his decisive 2000 victory, Winn has the backing of a nice blend of youthful enthusiasm in Robert Partridge and Lewys Hobbs, plus the experienced Jamie Norfolk and Paul Sheppard.
