The Lancashire rider will not be competing in Denmark later this month on medical advice, according to agent Chris Murray. Queally won two silver medals at this summer's Commonwealth Games and gold with Craig MacLean and Chris Hoy at the National Track Championships in Manchester last Friday.
But the Olympic kilometre champion has been diagnosed with post-viral syndrome and withdrawn from the GB team competing in Denmark. Manager Heiko Salzwedel said that Queally lacked the motivation to compete, but Murray rejected that explanation. "Jason Queally and lack of motivation aren't two things that you'd put together," he said. "He's not exactly the Roy Keane of cycling but you'd never say he lacked motivation." Murray added: "He's obviously disappointed. He wanted to ride on a world stage but unfortunately, under medical advice, he's had to withdraw." | See also: 30 Aug 02 | Cycling Top Cycling stories now: Links to more Cycling stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
