| Armstrong shows form Armstrong keeps ahead of the pack Sunday's stage results and overall standings Three-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong gave himself a boost ahead of this year's event by winning the Midi Libre Grand Prix. Despite his victory in France, Armstrong says that he has yet to reach full fitness this season. The US Postal team rider took the overall lead on Saturday and sealed his win by finishing fourth on Sunday. The 30-year-old finished 27 seconds behind Laurent Paumier of France who won the final day's 30.3km time trial.
"Life is short, so it always does you good to win," said Armstrong who overcame cancer to become the sport's greatest rider. "I'm not 100% fit yet and my time trial was not perfect," he said. "But I'm delighted with my teammates, they controlled the race without ever panicking," he added. Spain's Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano was second overall, nine seconds behind Armstrong with Portugal's Jose Azevedo a further nine seconds adrift.
