Eight short-mat bowlers from Cornwall have emerged from a field of 48 challengers to make it through to the county finals in January. Jim Ashton beat John Sloane 11-9, Brenda Sleep defeated Gerald Fisher 9-8 and David Studden won 12-3 against Bob Williams in the play-offs. Also through are John Keers, Peter Hore, Keith Matthews, Ken Horrell and Liskeard's Peter Spargo. The finals will be played at the Dragon Leisure Centre in Bodmin on January 22.
