Jonathan Ross lost in straight sets in England |
Jonathan Ross was beaten by English qualifier Robert Paxton in the Potters Holidays World Singles Championship quarter-finals on Friday night. The Lisnagarvey player, who was the number 16 seed, was defeated 8-5, 9-8 at Hopton on Sea. "I just didn't get a feel and a rhythm early on, and I had no idea of weight, but I shouldn't have lost the second set," said Ross. Ross beat Canada's Hirendra Bhartu to reach the quarter-finals. He added: "I should have won the second set. With the score at 8-8 I only needed the shot to push the match to a shoot-out. I got the target both times but it didn't go for me. "I didn't play that badly, but Robert was always a bowl up on me in the head. I was short, short and short and was always chasing, and always just missing out. "I felt my lead bowls were nowhere near as good as they had been in my previous two matches. "That's usually my strength and that's what carried me through to this stage, and I'm more disappointed with that".
