Norfolk's Tim Stone beaten by Alex Marshall

Stone will now focus on the Welsh Open in February

Norfolk's Tim Stone has been knocked out of the World Indoor Bowls Championships at Potters by world number one Alex Marshall.

The Acle Bowls Club bowler lost out 10-6 7-3 in the second round.

Stone told BBC Radio Norfolk: "One bad end in the first set probably cost me the set but I was pleased to push Alex all the way in both sets."

Marshall goes through to the third round of the competition and will play Stewart Anderson.

"I knew I had to be at my best to win," said Marshall.

"Tim has shown great potential and has what it takes to come back and go all the way."

Stone has qualified for the Welsh Open in February but is looking forward to coming back to his local event again next year.

"I'll try to qualify again next year. I've managed it the last two years so I'd like to make it three on the trot," he added.
