Cornwall ended their Middleton Cup run on a high by beating Dorset 128-100 in Dorchester on Saturday.

Cornwall were 18 shots up after 10 ends and maintained a steady position throughout the match.

John Stafford went into the last end three down but played a perfectly weighted bowl to pick up four shots, winning his rink 20-19.

Cornwall lost just one rink, that of Colin Allen as the Duchy won five of the six on offer to take the win.

The victory gave the Cornish 20 points in Group 4 of the Middleton Cup, meaning they finished second behind rivals Devon who edged past Wiltshire by six shots.
