 Merrien won the World Indoor Cup in Australia |
Guernsey's Alison Merrien has climbed to number two in the world rankings following her victory at the World Indoor Cup in Australia. Merrien rose from fifth in the rankings after beating Val Smith, from New Zealand, in the final. Smith retains her place as world number one, while Malaysia's Siti Zalina Ahmad drops from second to third. The World Indoor Cup was Merrien's second singles title after lifting the World Outdoor Champion of Champions.
