Mervyn King will face qualifier Robert Paxton in Saturday's first semi-final of the World Indoor Singles Championships at Hopton-on-Sea. King, from Norfolk, saw off Welshman Stephen Rees 7-7 9-3 to reach the last four for the first time since 1998.
"I think his name's on it. I don't think anybody will touch him," said Rees afterwards.
New Zealand debutant Jamie Hill faces Greg Harlow in the other semi-final after beating Richard Morgan 11-6 8-8.
