MK Lions boss Mike New adds centre Travis Nelson

Travis Nelson
Nelson will be competing in his first professional campaign

US-based centre Travis Nelson has become Milton Keynes Lions' third off-season addition.

The 6ft 11in 23-year-old averaged 16 points and six rebounds on the way to being named an NABC All American for Minnesota State University last season.

Head coach Mike New told the club's website: "Travis will fit in very well.

"He had an extremely successful time in college, he bangs in and around the paint whilst also having a deft touch outside for such a big man."

On top of his impressive scoring record Nelson also boasts a string conversion rate, shooting 57% from the floor and 80% from the free-throw line in his final campaign before graduating.

He follows point guards Stefan Gill and Kris Clark in joining the Lions this summer, as New prepares for his first season in charge.
