Newcastle Eagles have a slim advantage against Everton Tigers after a 89-85 win in the first leg of Sunday's BBL Trophy semi-final on Tyneside. Charles Smith's late three-pointer sealed the victory, after Tigers had battled back to within a point of the Eagles tally in the fourth quarter. Both sides enjoyed spells of domination, with the Tigers opening up an early lead. But the Eagles fought back and survived a late rally to edge the first-leg. The two clubs meet again on Merseyside on Friday, 5 March.
