Worcester Wolves aim to extend their BBL winning run

Worcester Wolves will be confident going to second bottom Essex Pirates on Saturday after back-to-back wins in the British Basketball League.

Wolves coach Paul James said: "This is the first time we will see Essex Pirates since we regrouped in December.

"I understand that they are a pretty big and athletic team, so there will be match-up problems in some areas.

"Preparations are going well after two good wins last weekend against Plymouth at home and Everton on the road."

James added: "We are keen to keep our momentum going and moving in the right direction."

The wins keep Wolves in the hunt for the play-offs and James paid tribute to two players who may miss the recognition he thinks they deserve - Devin Smith and Griedrius Knysas.

"It has been a big learning curve for Devin, but with every game he understands a little more what he needs to do not only to help him get better but how best he can help our team win.

"Griedrius is another player who is starting to find out what he needs to contribute to the team effort. I have asked a lot of both 'G' and Devin and they are now finding their feet.

"Both of their efforts had a great deal to do with us winning the games last weekend.

"This might not reflected in the stats, but as the coach I know they played their part."
