Sheffield Sharks defeated Leicester Riders 81-78 on Saturday and 86-74 on Friday to clinch a BBL Cup final berth with a 167-152 aggregate score. Friday's game in Sheffield, saw a match-up between the BBL's top scorers, Mike Cook and Tack Minor. Cook came out on top as he scored 31 points for the Sharks, while Minor replied with 29 for the Riders. The second leg in Leicester saw Sharks' Bradd Wierzbicki top score with 23 but it was not enough to take them through. In Friday's tie, Leicester shaded the first half 44-41 but Sheffield took the lead early in the fourth quarter and kept it. In the return tie on Saturday, a Wierzbicki three at the end of the third quarter put the Riders 58-53 in front going into the final period. The Wierzbicki score cut the aggregate margin to five, but that was as close as Leicester would get. The Sharks levelled the match at 62-62 and once Mike Tuck had given them the lead, they did not look back. Tuck, Sheffield's newest signing, scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to see his team into the final. Cook led the scoring for the visitors with 21 points.
