Riders ready for Sheffield test

Rob Paternostro
Riders coach Paternostro is still waiting on a new deal for next season.

Leicester Riders will have home advantage when they play Sheffield Sharks in Wednesday's BBL play-offs.

The Riders secured their place after a tense match against Worcester Wolves on Saturday saw them finish in the top four of the BBL.

Leicester coach Rob Paternostro told BBC Radio Leicester: "There was a sense of relief because we deserved the home play-off this year.

"We love playing on our home court, we have been playing really well there."

A home play-off fixture was far from a formality for the Riders as Wolves forced the game into overtime at the John Sanford Centre.

When the game was on the line, Wierzbicki delivered.

The Riders had led 96-94 going into the final 51 seconds of regulation time but two free throws from Wolves tied the game.

Leicester eventually came out winners 108-104 much thanks to Brad Wierzbicki's 10 points in the extra period.

Paternostro added: "He scored 41 points in the game and 10 points in overtime, it's a fantastic achievement.

"When the game was on the line, Wierzbicki delivered. He's a special player."
