Flournoy wants Tafari Toney to push for regular basketball
Newcastle Eagles coach Fab Flournoy is hopeful the club can make amends for December's BBL Cup semi-final exit with progress in the BBL Trophy.
Eagles were eliminated from the cup by Everton Tigers but currently top their Trophy group with a 100% record from their two games this season.
"It's overly important," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"We're a bit more consistent than we were in the early season and the guys understand what I want them to do."
Flournoy believes some of the club's summer imports have finally begun to find their feet on Tyneside.
Tafari Toney and Reggie Jackson arrived in the British Basketball League from US basketball during the summer and Flournoy has urged the duo to put pressure on the club's more established players.
"Those guys are hugely talented, and they have to find their niche, it's difficult to come into a club that's so well established," he said.
"I want them to come in and step on some toes, they need to find their feet because they're players who can bring the club forward," he added.
