Andre Smith has scored 299 points in 12 games for Everton this season

Everton Tigers forward Andre Smith says he is ready and waiting for Plymouth Raiders when the two sides meet in the BBL Cup final on Sunday.

The 23-year-old, who picked up the BBL player of the month award for December, believes it is a great opportunity to win some silverware.

Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside: "On Sunday it will be in our best interest to hold that cup up.

"It is always nice to be the champion of something."

Smith hails from St Paul, Minnesota in the United States and admits he does not know a lot about the league and cup competitions in England.

Even though this match is the biggest in Everton's history, he says he looks upon the game as any other.

Andre continued: "It's just another game for me and all the other Americans.

"We don't know anything about the cup or the trophy. We know it's a cup final but it's just another game for us."

He also thinks this fixture could help promote the sport in the city of Liverpool and the country.

"That's what it's about for us, building a fan base and making Basketball popular here in England."
