Everton Tigers guard Richard Midgley has been named in Great Britain's training squad for September's European Championships qualifying campaign.

The 24-year-old has been named in a group of 27 alongside NBA Stars Luol Deng and Ben Gordon.

Midgley played for Great Britain in last summer's promotion campaign from EuroBasket Division B.

Tigers veteran Chris Haslam has missed the cut for the campaign after being included in an initial squad of 33.

Great Britain face qualifiers home and away to Israel, the Czech Republic and Bosnia.

The home game against Israel on September 13 will be played at Liverpool's Echo Arena.

Meanwhile, Tigers head coach Tony Garbelotto has continued his summer rebuilding programme by signing 36-year-old forward Tony Dorsey from BBL champions Guildford Heat.
