Stewart is a former BBL All Star forward |
Newcastle Eagles forward Lynard Stewart has revealed he decided to join the club after keeping in touch with coach Fab Flournoy throughout the last year. "Last year we exchanged numbers, and during the season we exchanged e-mails," Stewart told BBC Look North.
"From us talking, he really convinced me to come to Newcastle. It's a great thing he has going on here.
"Fab was looking for someone with my experience. I've won a couple of trophies and I want to win some more."
Stewart, 31, spent three successful seasons with Sheffield and was named MVP in the 2004 BBL Cup final and play-off final.
The Pennsylvania-born product of Temple University has also played in Israel, the Czech Republic, Belgium and spent two seasons at the London Towers.
