Flournoy's Eagles go into the final as current BBL Trophy holders |
Newcastle Eagles coach Fab Flournoy has warned his team not to underestimate the Plymouth Raiders in the BBL Trophy Final on Sunday. Despite defeating Plymouth 99-75 in a league match on Friday, Flournoy is refusing to get carried away.
"It could breed a little bit of over-confidence on our part," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"We can't just show up on Sunday and think we can beat them. We have to make sure we dictate the game."
The Eagles go into the final as favourites, having won the competition last year, but Plymouth Raiders coach Gary Stronach says his side can upset the odds.
"We truly believe we're going into the final to play a close game, and there's no doubt we can beat them," he said.
The Newcastle-born coach is hoping to have Carlton Aaron back for the game. The league's leading rebounder was rested in Friday's defeat to the Eagles.
The BBL Trophy Final takes place at the Newcastle Arena on Sunday 4 March 2007. Tip-off is at 1630 GMT.
