Flournoy added the MVP award to his other honours this season |
The Newcastle Eagles completed a clean sweep of all four British Basketball League titles with an 83-68 win over Scottish Rocks in the play-offs final. Coach Fab Flournoy was named most valuable player after scoring 17 points and taking 17 rebounds.
Charles Smith led all scorers with 22 points for the Eagles, who trailed 28-40 at half-time.
The Rocks' leading scorer was England international Julius Joseph with 21 points. Frank Bennett added 20 points.
The Eagles add the play-off final win to the Cup, Trophy and League titles they have already won this season.
After the match, Flournoy admitted he was "concerned but not worried" at half-time.
"Every team's going to get a run on you and that was theirs," he said of the Rocks' 40-28 interval lead.
"But I have a very talented team, so even if opponents clamp down on Andrew Sullivan, we have other options."
The Eagles' win means they are only the fourth team to win all four BBL titles in one season.
