Finch knows his team cannot afford many more slip-ups |
Great Britain coach Chris Finch is happy to have a full week with his team to sort out the problems raised by the 73-62 defeat to Slovakia on Saturday. GB are the team in their five-nation group that has Wednesday off before Saturday's game against Holland.
"When I looked at the schedule I knew that the week between game one and game two was going to be absolutely crucial," he told BBC Sport.
"It's valuable to look at our mistakes and correct them."
Three GB players fouled out of a bruising first qualifying match against he Slovaks in Spisska Nova Ves.
"What hurt us most was foul trouble," said Finch. "Also, we didn't get a good game from several of our marquee players."
Finch also defended the GB programme against criticism from home that the team had not played enough games in the lead-in to the Eurobasket qualifiers.
"You can play all the games you want, but if you get foul trouble on guys that you're counting on in a team which is pretty thin on producers, it's going to put you in jeopardy," he said.
"They had 12 more shots than we did and in a very close game with not a lot of points scored that's everything."
