Robertson won the world championships with Gail Emms in 2006

England's mixed doubles pair Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork have been handed a difficult draw at the World Championships in Paris.

The duo are set to face Denmark's world and European champions Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl, if they make it through to the third round.

Robertson, with Anthony Clark, also has a daunting task in the men's doubles.

Clark and Robertson begin against former world champions Tony Gunawan and Howard Bach of the USA.

If the pair can survive that test, a meeting with 2006 and 2009 world champions Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun of China beckons in the third round.

England's Chris Langridge and Robin Middleton received a first-round bye but will face Chinese fourth seeds Guo Zhendong and Xu Chen in the second round.

Robertson won the world title with his former mixed doubles partner Gail Emms back in 2006.

This time around, Robertson and Wallwork - seeded 15th - will start against Valeriy Atrashchenkov and Elena Prus of Ukraine.

England's other mixed doubles pair, Chris Adcock and Gabby White, face India's V Diju and Jwala Gutta in the first round.

In the singles, European bronze medallist Rajiv Ouseph faces Dutch number one Eric Pang in the first round while fellow Englishman Carl Baxter meets Slovakia's Mikal Matejka.

And in the women's doubles Wallwork and White will team up to take on Canada's Milaine Cloutier and Valerie St Jacques in their opener, and Scotland's Inogen Bankier and Emma Mason start off against Thailand's 13th seeds Savitree Amitapai and Vacharaporn Munkit.

Scotland's Susan Egelstaff is also in action in the women's singles

The Championships begin at the Coubertin Stadium on 23 August.
