Cornish Sharks scouting for fresh gridiron talent

Cornish Sharks

Cornish Sharks are scouting for new talent ahead of next season in the British American Football League Division Two South West.

The club are holding open trials at the Newquay Sports Centre on Sunday 20 February and Sunday 27 February.

Head coach Brian Smallworth said: "We are looking for all types of people, both players from a variety of sports and non-players to referee.

"Players of different sports bring a variety of skills to the team."

He continued: "Rugby players bring their skills in tackling and ball handling; basketball players are skilled at catching the ball and many are very fast.

"Soccer players bring speed and an ability to kick the football while cricketers have the ability to catch the football with some speed.

"We are hoping to hear from anyone who is generally interested in helping the Sharks progress towards their desired goal of winning the Divisional Championship."

The Sharks begin their season on April 10 with an away match against Gloucester Banshees.
