St Louis Rams have named New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo as their new head coach.
The 49-year-old, who has agreed a four-year deal, will be unveiled at a news conference on Monday.
He replaces interim coach Jim Haslett, who had taken over when Scott Linehan was fired after the Rams lost their first four games of the NFL season.
The Rams ended the season with a record of two wins and 14 defeats, finishing bottom of the NFC West division.
Under Spagnuolo, the Giants' defence led the NFL with 53 sacks in 2007, but lost to Philadelphia in the play-offs last week.
"There's just a toughness about him," Rams general manager Billy Devaney said. "He represented what we were looking for when this process began."
