Leading rusher in Admirals return

Nick Copley

Plymouth Admirals have been boosted by the news that star running back Nick Copley will be returning to the side for Sunday's BAFL game with Reading.

Copley, who was the Admirals' top scorer and leading rusher last season, is one of several key players returning to the side this week.

But leading quarter-back Mark Tanner, receiver Tim Rogers and leading tackler Martin Pragnell are all still out.

"Those are big players to be without," said captain Mel German.

"Add to that list 2007's lineman of the year Rich Perry, rookie of the year Gareth Wetherill and special team's player of the year Ryan Melbourne and that goes some way to explaining our struggles so far this term," he added.

A home fixture could be just what we need at the moment. Our results in Plymouth last season were our best since 2002

The Admirals have lost their opening two matches in the BAFL Division Two without scoring a single point and are bottom of the British American Football League Two South West Conference.

The team hope their home form will help them climb up the table.

"A home fixture could be just what we need at the moment. Our results in Plymouth last season were our best since 2002," German added.

Last season the side switched venues to the Parkway Sports Club in Plymouth.

Sunday's game kicks off at 1430 BST.
