Plymouth Admirals were crushed 60-0 by the London Cobras
Plymouth Admirals were outclassed 60-0 by a rampant London Cobras in their second South West Conference BAFL Division Two game of the season.
Captain Mel Germain put the Admirals' defeat down to a lack of offence.
"We struggled to move the ball on offence," he said. "This put us in poor field position throughout the game.
"Admittedly defence was the Cobra's strongest unit but, if we are to have success this year, then we need to do better than that."
Their squad size was at least 50% bigger than ours, and with larger squads comes more options
Admirals GM Sam Holder-Mark
The Admirals also put the defeat down in part to the size of the squads taking the field, the London team having many more players than the visiting Plymouth side.
"Their squad size was at least 50% bigger than ours," said general manager Sam Holder-Mark. "And, with larger squads, comes more options for the coaches and more chance to rotate in fresh players.
"That's why at the Admirals we are always looking for new players. Anyone wishing to try out the sport should get in touch, regardless of age or experience."
The defeat leaves Plymouth bottom of Division Two.
The Admirals are now looking ahead to their first home game of the season against Reading Renegades next Sunday (1 June) at Parkway Sports Club.
