Admirals search for new players

Plymouth Admirals
Plymouth Admirals are still looking for more players

Plymouth Admirals American Football team is on the hunt for new players as the 2008 season gets under way.

The Admirals play in division two of the British American Football League and are the only side in Devon.

Head coach Steve Perry is hoping to recruit rugby players who want to play a summer sport.

"There are many new players in the Admirals and many of these players were recruited from local rugby teams," Perry said.

The Devon side had a disappointing start to the 2008 season, losing 28-0 to the Hampshire Thrashers.

The team, which plays their home games at the Parkway Social Club, are also looking for people to join the club's support staff.

"There are plenty of ways to get involved be it cheerleading, assisting the umpires, kit management, physiotherapist or statistician to name just a few," said team secretary Paula Dodds.
