Michael Vick stamped his name in the record books but was unable to prevent his Atlanta Falcons losing 10-3 to the Carolina Panthers on Christmas Eve. Vick ran four times for a total of 32 yards to become the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season.
But the loss ended Atlanta's play-off aspirations.
Elsewhere, the New England Patriots clinched the AFC East crown with a narrow 24-21 victory over Jacksonville.
And the Seattle Seahawks wrapped up the NFC West despite suffering a 20-17 loss to San Diego.
Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts crashed to a fourth loss of the season at the hands of Houston.
On Saturday, Kansas City kept their slim hopes of making the NFL play-offs alive with a 20-9 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Larry Johnson rushed for 135 yards and also scored a touchdown as the Chiefs (8-7) ended a three-game losing streak.
Trent Green completed just 12 of 24 attempts for 148 yards but it was enough to hold off the Oakland attack.
For the seventh time this season, the Raiders failed to score a touchdown, Sebastian Janikowski accounting for all their points with three field goals.
