Stokes won the Champion of Champions title in Sri Lanka in July

Cornish surfer Alan Stokes has been knocked out in round two of the Men's Six Star event at Ericeria in Portugal.

The 29-year-old from Newquay won his first heat, recording a score of 12.43, becoming the only British surfer to reach the last 48 in the process.

But Stokes failed to replicate that form in the second round, coming last in his heat with a score of 5.13.

Britain's Oli Adams was knocked out in the first round, coming last in his heat with a score of 6.07.
