Shanaze Reade is hungry to make up for her disappointment in Beijing

BMX rider Shanaze Reade is backing herself to shine at the London Olympics after regaining her world title.

The 21-year-old from Crewe crashed in the 2008 Olympic final in Beijing but victory in South Africa in July was her third world title in four years.

"It was a very emotional time for me. Everything came together, the belief came back," she told BBC Sport.

"After the Olympics I was lost for a little while. Now I'm just looking forward to bigger and better things".

Reade won in dominant style beating reigning champion Sarah Walker into second to regain a title she could not defend last year due to a shoulder injury.

Despite the victory, Reade says that her desperation to right the wrongs of 2008 is undiminished.

"There's not a day goes by that I don't wake up and have the hunger and desire inside me," Reade added.
