Shanaze Reade is hungry to make up for her disappointment in Beijing |
BMX rider Shanaze Reade is backing herself to shine at the London Olympics after regaining her world title. The 21-year-old from Crewe crashed in the 2008 Olympic final in Beijing but victory in South Africa in July was her third world title in four years. "It was a very emotional time for me. Everything came together, the belief came back," she told BBC Sport. "After the Olympics I was lost for a little while. Now I'm just looking forward to bigger and better things". Reade won in dominant style beating reigning champion Sarah Walker into second to regain a title she could not defend last year due to a shoulder injury. Despite the victory, Reade says that her desperation to right the wrongs of 2008 is undiminished. "There's not a day goes by that I don't wake up and have the hunger and desire inside me," Reade added.
