Middlesbrough are into Europe for the first time in their history |
Middlesbrough Roller Hockey Club lifted the season's first silverware after a 4-3 win against rivals Herne Bay United in the National League Cup final. A late winner from captain Michael Ableson handed Boro the trophy for the first time since 2007 after a open game looked to be heading for extra-time. Grimsby were beaten 2-1 in the semi-final to book Boro's final place, thanks to two goals from Marc Rutland. The forthcoming roller hockey season kicks on Saturday, 10 October.
