Oliver Townend praised his horse Carousel Quest |
Oliver Townend was the clear winner of the Burghley International Horse Trials aboard the impressive Carousel Quest. The pair managed clear rounds in both the cross-country and the showjumping, to win the title by a clear 8.7 marks. "It was an amazing win, and carousel Quest is a real class ride," said Townend, adding the Burghley title to the one he won at Badminton in May. A strong finish brought Polly Stockton up from sixth place overnight to finish second on Westwood Poser. The horse was a late replacement for Regulus, who Stockton ruled out after surgery. Townend's win earned him the Land Rover Perpetual Challenge trophy and a cheque for £55,000. "Winning Badminton was wonderful, but to win Burghley as well is just amazing," he added.
