Former national champion Constable now lives and plays in Jersey |
Karen Stuart believes the performances of Guernsey duo Ian Sullivan and Gail Lloyd gives her great hope for Aland. They impressed in their game against Jersey's reigning national champion Elizabeth Cann and Mark Constable. Stuart, the selector of Guernsey's Island Games team, will take most of her Gilson Cup squad to the Finnish island for the Games in July. But both Cann, a former triple national champion, and Constable will be unable to represent Jersey at Aland. "I think the highlight of the day for me was to see Ian Sullivan and Gail Lloyd play against Mark Constable and Elizabeth Cann," Stuart told BBC Guernsey. "They took them to three and Mark and Elizabeth really had to raise their game in order to get past Gail and Ian. "With my island games hat on that was pleasing to see as I shall be taking Ian and Gail and Jersey won't be taking Mark and Elizabeth, so I understand."
