The best bodyboarders in Britain will be at Porthtowan at the weekend

Britain's best bodyboarders are set to compete at the national championships at Porthtowan on Cornwall this weekend.

A �3,000 prize fund is on offer with the Open Division winner collecting a prize of �1,000.

As well as junior and women's sections a masters section had been added for the first time this year.

"The older Bodyboarders want to compete on an equal footing with guys their own age," said British Bodyboard Club chairman Rich Hall.

"It's really encouraging to see that the more seasoned competitors haven't lost their competitive edge," he added.

The event begins on Saturday, 27 September and concludes the following day.
